Transform Your Life with Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy

How Hypnotherapy works?

Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to work with the part of the mind that stores habits and emotional responses. You do not lose control. You will be awake, aware and able to speak throughout. Think of it as learning to use your mind with more skill, so unhelpful reactions no longer run the show.

A typical first session begins with a proper chat about what you want to change and what a good result would look like for you. You are then guided into a calm state using gentle language and breath awareness. In that state your mind is more open to healthy suggestions and new ways of thinking. Most people notice they feel lighter and clearer even after one appointment.

FAQs

1What is hypnotherapy, and how does it work?

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that guides individuals into a natural state of deep relaxation and focused attention, often referred to as the alpha or hypnotic state. In this state, the conscious mind becomes quieter, allowing the subconscious mind to become more receptive to positive suggestions.

A typical session involves several stages:

  • Relaxation and Induction: The therapist helps you enter a deeply relaxed state using breathing, visualisation, or calming language.
  • Deepening: You are guided further into a focused mental space where you remain awake but deeply calm and internally aware.
  • Therapeutic Suggestions: Tailored suggestions are introduced to help shift habits, behaviours, or thought patterns. For example, the therapist may suggest that you feel calm in social settings or that you only eat when you are physically hungry.
  • Post-Session Effects: The positive suggestions can continue to influence your thoughts and behaviours long after the session, such as increased confidence or reduced cravings.
  • Awakening: You are gently brought back to full awareness, often feeling refreshed, relaxed, and mentally clearer.
2Why You Need Hypnotherapy for becoming unstuck?
Hypnotherapy offers you the chance to deal with and eliminate symptoms of limiting beliefs that create doubts and fears. Thus potentially leaving behind anxiety , insomnia, and even elements of depression.
3How effective is hypnotherapy ?
Hypnotherapy can be effective, but its success varies based on the individual, the condition being treated, and the skill of the therapist. Here's a breakdown of its effectiveness based on different applications: ✅ Conditions Where Hypnotherapy Shows Promise 1. Chronic Pain Management Effectiveness: Often effective. Evidence: Strong support in cases like migraines, fibromyalgia, and cancer-related pain. Why it works: Helps reduce perception of pain and anxiety about pain. 2. Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) Effectiveness: Highly effective for many. Evidence: Endorsed by some national health bodies Why it works: Gut-directed hypnotherapy addresses the brain-gut connection. 3. Anxiety and Phobias Effectiveness: Highly effective. Evidence: Can reduce symptoms, especially when combined with CBT. Why it works: Targets subconscious triggers and response patterns. Smoking Cessation Effectiveness: Effective Evidence: Some studies show better results than willpower alone. Why it works: May help by altering unconscious associations with smoking. Sleep Disorders Effectiveness: effective for insomnia and parasomnias. Evidence: Some clinical support, particularly in improving sleep onset and quality.
4 Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes, hypnotherapy is considered safe when conducted by a qualified and trained professional. It is a non-invasive, drug-free approach that has been shown to be effective for many issues, including anxiety, habit change, stress, and emotional trauma. However, individuals with certain mental health conditions such as schizophrenia or severe dissociative disorders should seek clearance from a psychiatrist before beginning hypnotherapy.
5What does a typical session look like ?
Sessions last for 60 minutes. This gives me time to treat both the mind and the body. The first session lasts for 90 minutes. All other sessions are 60 minutes each.) Beginning: Typically, each session begins with a discussion of what’s happened since your last session. This gives us a clear idea of the progress you feel you’ve made and what areas we need to focus on. Middle: You’ll sit back, relax, and listen as you receive hypnotherapy (most clients’ favourite part of the session!). End: Finally, we’ll discuss what actions need to take place between this session and your next to ensure your healing continues.
6How many hypnotherapy sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on the issue being addressed and the individual’s responsiveness to treatment.
  • For minor concerns, noticeable improvement may occur within 2 to 4 sessions.
  • More deep-rooted issues such as long-term anxiety or trauma may require 6 to 8 sessions.
  • Ongoing maintenance sessions every few months can help reinforce positive change and prevent relapse.
  • 7Can sessions be done online?
Hypnotherapy can be done either online or in person. Both forms are equally effective, so it’s really up to you. I’m located in Caulfield, Vic. Some people prefer online treatment because they don’t have to leave the comfort of their own homes. Others prefer to come in person because they’re more relaxed face-to-face and they don’t have to use video call technology.
8How do I get in touch with you?
Simply send me a message using the enquiry/booking form or book in a 30mins free discovery call. and I’ll be in touch! Or If you’d like to have a quick chat prior to booking a session, you can also call me on 0411 11 4587. I look forward to meeting you.
    9Can anyone be hypnotised?
Most people are capable of being hypnotised to varying degrees. Around 90 percent of individuals fall into a category where they can benefit from hypnotherapy, especially when they are open to the process and trust the therapist. With the right guidance and environment, even those who are initially sceptical can often enter a responsive state.
10What issues can hypnotherapy help with?
Hypnotherapy is used to support a wide range of concerns. These include:
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Weight loss and emotional eating
  • Quitting smoking
  • Trauma recovery
  • Confidence and public speaking
  • Low self-esteem
  • Insomnia and sleeplessness
  • Anger management
  • Exam or performance anxiety
  • Work-related stress and focus
  • It is particularly effective for habit change, psychosomatic symptoms, and areas where behaviour is influenced by unconscious beliefs or patterns.

Hypnotherapy Is Not Recommended: - Severe mental illness (e.g., schizophrenia, psychosis) - Severe addiction (should involve medical detox and psychotherapy) - Crisis situations (e.g., suicidal ideation or self-harm — seek immediate care)

11Will I be in control during hypnosis?
Yes, you remain fully in control throughout the entire hypnotherapy session. You are not asleep or unconscious. You will be aware of what is being said, able to communicate, and capable of stopping the session at any time if needed. Hypnotherapy is a cooperative process where your mind stays alert and responsive to only those suggestions that align with your goals and values.
12What can I expect during my first hypnotherapy session?

During your first session, your therapist will take the time to understand your goals, background, and any relevant emotional or behavioural patterns. Together, you will develop a tailored treatment plan.

You will also experience your first hypnotherapy session, which typically lasts around 30 minutes. Many therapists record this session and provide you with a copy so you can listen at home to reinforce the therapy.

13Is hypnotherapy effective for quitting smoking or losing weight?
